Thesis Title: "Ecology and behaviour of the tarnished plant bug in vineyards".

Research Summary: The tarnished plant bug, Lygus lineolaris (Palisot de Beauvois) (Hemiptera: Miridae), is an important pest of several crops, including fruit (i.e. apple, strawberry, etc). Our research investigate three aspects of its ecology. First, we study the behaviour (movements) of the tarnished plant bug in Québec's vineyards. Second, we aim at determining the type of damage when L. lineolaris feeds on grapes, as well as its effect on yield. Third, we test pesticides sensitivity of tarnished plant bug nymphs and adults of several populations where vineyards are a major agronomic economic activity.
